Program summary: 

ASPB Ambassadors are early-career scientists (students, postdocs, and industry employees) who are competitively recruited to communicate the mission and vision of the Society to other plant biologists and to the general public. Their role, in short, is to help ensure the ongoing vitality of the Society. These emerging leaders engage their campus and workplace communities in plant science outreach activities, represent ASPB at section meetings, participate in recruitment and retention activities, and/or contribute content for ASPB wevbsites and newsletters. They also provide a voice for early-career members in the Society, often lending input on key issues.
 
The application deadline is Janaury 15, 2026. Apply for your chance to take an active role in shaping ASPB, your professional Society. And please feel free to forward this message to anyone who you think might make a great ambassador for ASPB.

Application process:

Applications may be submitted through the online application system and will require the following information/documentation.

• Applicants must provide a written recommendation/reference letter, which should ideally be from your current PI or supervisor. The reference should address the applicant's interpersonal skills, communication skills, academic credentials, professionalism, and how the Ambassador opportunity will add to their career development. 
• A current CV or resume that is no more than 2 pages long
• Responses to the following questions:
  • What does science communication mean to you? How do you plan to incorporate science communication into your academic and/or professional career?
  • What does plant science outreach mean to you? If accepted into the ASPB Ambassador Program, what kind of outreach programs would you be interested in engaging?*
• Sign an agreement to adhere to the conditions and rules of the program

Applications to the program are currently being accepted, with a January 15, 2026 deadline.  They will be reviewed by the Ambassador Alliance together with the Membership Committee Chair and the appropriate ASPB Staff.
